Computraining Center

computrainer studioBreakaways’ state of the art, sixteen station Computrainer studio is used for group training sessions, open rides, team training sessions, league racing, and fitness assessments. Computrainer offers the most realistic indoor cycling experience available, and most riders who regularly train on a Computrainer report significant gains in cycling power and overall fitness.  Read More Here

Our Computrainer studio has four 60″ plasma televisions displaying training data (watts and w/kg, average speed, heart rate, distance, calories, etc). During open traininng rides we have graphics that display training data as well as course positioning for those riders that want to simulate outdoor group rides and drafting. For specific course training we have real videos of famous cycling and triathlon courses to offer a visual experience that matches the actual terrain.

Racermate’s Computrainer is an electronic load generator that is fixed to a rear wheel bicycle training stand. The load generator is connected to a hand unit which may be used to control the load generator directly, and it also is connected to a desktop computer, which offers more advanced opportunities for control. After mounting your bike on a Computrainer, you will be able to:

  • Ride realistic 3D course simulations, complete with varying terrain
  • Compete with other riders in Computrainer’s virtual environments
  • Optimize your cadence and cycling technique
  • Determine critical power output levels

Most importantly you can leverage Computrainer’s precision to obtain accurate testing results useful for power and/or heart rate based training.

Class Package FAQ’s

I have never taken this type of class, what should I expect?

You can expect a great individualized workout in a fun, group environment! The first week we will have you take a 20 minute baseline assessment. The next 7 weeks you will use your average power number from that initial assessment to give you a workout designed around your ability level.

I have a tri bike, is that ok?

Yes, tri bikes are welcome in our classes.

I don’t really ride that much, is this class too intense for me?

These classes are for everyone of all ability levels. With the CompuTrainer, we are able to give everyone an individualized workout based on each person’s ability level while maintaining the fun atmosphere of a group workout.

I’m nervous to take this class.

There is no reason to be nervous! We have great instructors that will be there every step of the way and your workout will be dosed according to your ability level.

How long is each class?

We allocate 90 minutes for each class, with about 75 minutes of riding. The 75 minutes of riding will include a warmup and cool down.

How much improvement should I expect taking this class?

While everyone is different and will improve at different levels, the data we have collected and analyzed from previous classes has shown an average improvement of about 13%.

I don’t have a PowerTap, is that ok?

PowerTaps are not necessary for this class. The CompuTrainers we use will show you your power numbers during the workout.

Do I really need a trainer skewer?

A steel trainer skewer with round end caps will fit much more securely into the CompuTrainer brackets and will also be more durable so that you don’t have to gouge up the nice skewer that matches your wheels and bike.

If I have a schedule conflict on one of the class days, can I make it up?

Yes, you can login to your account and cancel the class you can’t make and reschedule using the class schedule
